Project Description

Wood Green Town Centre:
Major Scheme

Commencing: April 2014 – Duration 12 Months
Clients: Haringey Council, Transport for London, London Buses, Clear Channel UK
Principal Contractor: Ringway Jacobs

As part of the on-going re-development of Wood Green town centre, Twenty Twelve Civils Ltd were engaged by Clear Channel UK Ltd to remove two ‘Super Shelters’ built in the mid nineteen eighties. The work was originally scheduled to take eighteen days, with work on site commencing no later than Friday 6th June.

Works included:

Traffic and pedestrian management, power disconnection, the cleaning and removal of over ninety sheets of toughened glass, at high level, weighing over 160kg per sheet.

The removal of seven light columns, the oxy-acetylene cutting and removal of the main overhead structures and supporting columns, low-level screens, seating, seven information service points and one small retail outlet.

With all temporary reinstatement completed and the site returned to use for London Buses and pedestrians, Twenty Twelve Civils left site on Friday 20th June after just thirteen working days.

“The work undertaken by Twenty Twelve Civils has been excellent. Works were completed ahead of schedule, were to a high standard and on budget. The disruption to the highway network has been minimal and the communication on site exemplary”. Twenty Twelve Civils will return to site later in the year to install two new multi-bay shelters for London Buses.
